Painting with a purpose

 – a contribution towards excellent care

My workshops

  • bring people together

  • give them something new to talk about

  • are suitable for all levels of ability

  • use good quality materials

  • are very enjoyable!

The structure of a typical workshop

I provide drawings in pen and ink on watercolour paper, to which residents can add paint. For people who do not see easily, I can make the drawings extra large and/or simple. Concentration may last for only a short time, in which case I have pictures to look at and poems to read aloud, which often stimulate more memories and ideas.

I bring my own watercolour paper and paints and a range of brushes, and use of these is included in the £25 which I charge for half a day. All I ask from you is a space to paint in, a supply of water – and, most important, an attitude which encourages residents to have a go.

We might produce individual works, or collaborate on a collage, like this one on the right.

Autumn is my favourite season and autumn leaves are an ideal subject.
